Shopping Day

We finally registered! Yay for Target! It was a lot of fun! You should have seen Buie trying to open and close the stroller we picked out with one hand, because supposedly that's how you should be able to do it! We were all "gun-ho" (get it...scanning gun!) at first but Buie's energy kind of waned after a couple of hours, but I sure was proud of him lasting that long out shopping.  Of course we took turns using the scanner but he kept updating me on just how many items we had added: "We've already added 85 items!!!" etc...  Now I just have to edit some things and maybe add a few more we might have missed.  What's crazy is, we thought we already had a lot of things, like hand-me-downs, but we still seemed to "need" so much when we were at the store. Oh well!  So, yay, now we're registered and all the fun with the baby showers can begin. :)  Our first one is April 24.  A girl from Buie's office is giving us and one of the other employees whose pregnant a shower together. I just think that is so sweet!

Something pretty cool I read:

Once upon a time a Cave lived under the ground, as caves have the habit of doing. It had spent its lifetime in darkness. One day it heard a voice calling to it, "Come up into the light; come and see the sunshine." But the Cave retorted, "I don't know what you mean. There isn't anything but darkness." Finally the Cave was convinced to venture forth. He was amazed to see light everywhere and not a speck of darkness anywhere. He felt oddly warm and happy. Turnabout was fair play and so, looking up to the Sun, the Cave said, "Come with me and see the darkness." The Sun asked, "What is darkness?" The Cave replied, "Come and see!" One day the Sun accepted the invitation. As it entered the Cave it said, "Now show me your darkness." But there was no darkness!

"The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness." -Psalm 18:28

Cradle Mania

Buie is taking a furniture making class at the community college and his project is....making a cradle for little Nola Faye and hopefully all our future bambinos. :) It is well underway, after a rocky start (dificulty finding good plans and good wood) but I am just so proud of him for doing this. He's always wanted to learn how to do woodworking! He really enjoyed class this past time, made his first cuts using a something saw and glued his boards together. He even worked so hard he got sawdust and glue all over him, can you tell?? We'll keep you updated!

I added a new picture showing some new cut outs my cool husband made for the cradle. So now we have the headboard, footboard and one side panel ready. Next class he should be able to get the rest cut out and start assembling. It's just really neat to see it coming together, and it makes it all the more real that there will be a baby to put in this thing. :) Yay!

Biblical Womanhood

I have been introduced to a great site: truewoman.com

My women's group at church is planning on hosting a brunch soon to discuss the topic of biblical womanhood and what that looks like. I've signed the "True Woman Manifesto" and am participating in two challenges their site offers. I'm already loving it, the husband challenge might be a bit difficult, but that's ok! :) I'll be posting the links for each day, if anyone is interested. I definitely recommend joining and taking the challenges too. They offer other ones at their sister site.

Ta Da!

I'm so excited...Spring has sprung in my yard. I looked out today and poof, a couple of cute daffodils were right there. Yay! Just want to say I love perennials....you do the work one time and you just reap the rewards over and over each year. And it's just so neat to see all that new growth poking through all the dead leaves. Happy Spring!

"Truth springs up from the earth, and righteousness smiles down from heaven." Psalm 85:11

From Oswald Chambers, March 11:
"The only way God plants His saints is through the whirlwind of His storms. Will you be proven to be an empty pod with no seed inside? That will depend on whether or not you are actually living in the light of the vision you have seen. Let God send you out through His storm, and don't go until He does. If you select you own spot to be planted, you will prove yourself to be an unproductive, empty pod. However, if you allow God to plant you, you will "bear much fruit" (John 15:8)"

Thank You Cards

Well not only is my tummy and sweet Nola Faye getting bigger everyday...so are my poor ankles. But that's ok, Buie's learning how to give a mighty good foot rub! :)

Well it has begun...the thank you notes. Yeh, I know, already people have been so sweet and are giving us gifts. I am just overwhelmed at how nice and thoughtful people are. I found some super cute thank you cards, with daisies of course! I'm just so excited! I love sending snail mail!

Until next time...

Welcome to blog world

I got inspired to start my own blog by reading and seeing all the cool stuff on friend's blogs. i was totally "jeal-y". So i'm gonna give it a try. I'll still keep my photo site, I guess, for now. I figure with Nola coming, more people might be interested in the goings on at the Holder Mansion. :) So here we go...
